Summary We are a non-profit Christian organization with the mission of nurturing families through educational, financial and spiritual support.A strong candidate for this position has a strong work ethic, is passionate about working with children, has excellent interpersonal skills and is able to communicate effectively with both children and adults. Part-Time Hours : Monday through Friday, 2:00 - 6:00 Full-Time Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:30 - 6:00Full-Time position would include working with younger children during the traditional school year and working full-time with school-age children during the summer Duties Classroom Duties (further information available by contacting us): Communicate clearly with parents and coworkers Ensure physical and emotional safety of children Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe classroom; this will include light cleaning duties Lesson planning as required Assist children with their homework, providing guidance and encouraging academic growth. Ensure that children receive the proper amount of physical activity each day. Assist in the implementation of yearly special events, including the Christmas Program, Talent Show, and other special performances. Supervise children and monitor their behavior, keeping an accurate headcount at all times. Release children to authorized individuals only. Supervise children on field trips, making sure all children stay with the group, remain safe, and behave in a manner that best represents COSKids to the community. Implement a behavior management system, focusing on positive reinforcement with developmentally appropriate consequences. Keep families informed of all classroom activities, child behavior, and child academic and social progress on a regular basis. Model appropriate behavior and Christian values at all times. Requirements Education Requirement: Must have a HS Diploma or GED, prefer some college coursework or an Associates Degree Experience : Must have experience working either in a NC Licensed Child Care Facility or in a group setting with school aged children Requirements: Must be able to properly supervise groups of children at the assigned age-level. Must be able to lift children up to 50 lbs. in weight. Must be able to perform light physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and fine finger dexterity. Must have strong organizational skills and high motivation. Must have ability to relate well to parents, children, and staff. Must have flexibility in order to meet daily challenges of working in a childcare environment and to be available during varied work hours as needed. Must share the vision of COSKids Child and Development Campus as an outreach to the community. Must be a Christian and display love and concern for children and their families. Must pass State of NC requirements: fingerprint and criminal background check, TB test, annual physical examination. Must have or acquire BSAC training within 3 months of hire. Must have Pediatric First Aid and CPR Training or obtain within 8 weeks of hire. About Us COSKids is a Christian Child Development Campus located in downtown Matthews, NC.
