About Pokagon State Park : The Indiana Department of Natural Resources protects, enhances, preserves, and wisely uses natural, cultural, and recreational resources for the benefit of Indianas citizens through professional leadership, management, and education.Pokagon State Park is named to acknowledge the rich Native American heritage of the state and region. Leopold and Simon Pokagon, father and son, were notable leaders of the Potawatomi. Pokagon means "something used to shield," a fitting attribute of two leaders who championed for Native:American rights. The park is framed by Lake James and Snow Lake which offer opportunities for boating, swimming, fishing, and scenic sunsets. Role Overview: The Laborer performs a wide variety of routine tasks to assist in the maintenance of facilities, equipment, roads, and grounds. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at31,668.00but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: : Serveas a general maintenance person to inspect and maintain all facilities, grounds, and equipment.: Performroutine carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs.: Ensureall employees are properly trained to operate equipment and are properly educated to follow established safety policies and procedures.: Direct, assist, and supportrecreational special events as needed.: Assistwith purchasing and inventory of incoming supplies, materials, and repair parts.: Responsible for major and minor equipment, vehicle, and vessel repairs.: Maintaingrounds which may include mowing, weeding, aerating, spraying, fertilizing, and tree trimming or removal.: Responsible for maintaining all roads such as painting, snow plowing, sanding, and salting, repaving, or repairing.: Responsible for providing public safety on property, provide assistance in an emergency, or aid in rescue of accident victims.: Assistlaw enforcement with investigation of illegal activities on properties.:May assist and perform wildlife resource management The job profile is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
