Stevenson School is a PK-12 co-educational, college-preparatory, boarding and day school with enrollment of 770 students on two campuses in beautiful Central Coast California . The Upper Division campus (Grades 9-12) is located in Pebble Beach. The Lower/Middle Campus (Grades PK-8) is in nearby Carmel-by-the-Sea. Stevenson is a mission driven school that aims to help students shape joyful lives while instilling a passion for learning and achievement to prepare them for success in school and beyond. Stevenson School is seeking a Part Time French Teacher, Grades 9 - 12 t o join our world languages faculty starting in August 2024. The successful candidate will have a high level of content expertise along with prior experience in the development and delivery of a comprehensive curriculum and student-centered lesson plans. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated capacity to teach multiple ability levels using proficiency-oriented instruction to foster language acquisition, familiarity with computer assisted language learning and assessment tools, and a commitment to collaborate with colleagues to achieve the highest levels of excellence in curriculum design and classroom instruction. The ideal candidate will have experience and training in classroom management strategies that foster a target-language rich environment. This is a part-time teaching position at the Pebble Beach campus. Responsibilities Include: Teach one - two sections of French across two levels on a rotating schedule Collaborate with colleagues on critical inquiry-based curriculum with shared skills alignment and assessment measures, supporting student learning with a variety of pedagogical approaches to facilitate understanding across an array of learning styles Be inclined toward critically-reflective practices across the full scope of craft, and favor a learner-centered approach to instruction Collaborate enthusiastically with colleagues to coordinate lesson plans and work with specific subjects of expertise Communicate with students, parents, and colleagues in a timely and professional manner Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in French, Education, or related field, or associate’s level degree and equivalent professional experience Native or non-native French proficiency Strong English-language speaking and writing abilities Experience, familiarity and a willingness to utilize T.P.R.S. and C.I. methods to foster language acquisition Experience in teaching multiple grade levels on a daily basis Documented professional development in K-12 Language Assessment, Curriculum Design, and Classroom Instruction Familiarity with computer assisted language-learning tools and technology-based language assessment tools like STAMP Experience with or a willingness to learn a learning management system like Canvas Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to connect with all members of the community Demonstrated interest in being part of a collaborative team Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and the integrity of all aspects of information disseminated within or external to the school community Commitment to being part of a diverse, equitable and inclusive school community The compensation level for this role will be determined by the number of assigned sections and is anticipated to be $5,000-$6,000 per section taught, per semester.
