Job Description The recently opened Rahway Biologics Development Center (BDC) is the new home of preclinical R&D in biologics. Supporting the BDC, the Biologics Automation team is growing to support the changing processes and increased reliance on automation within Biologics Process Research & Development (BPR&D).The Associate Director rolewill provide process automation leadership within the BDC Pilot Plant. This position needs to deftly manage tasks in various disciplines. The individual will need to be able to effectively communicate and coordinate with different teams of people including scientists, automation teams within the network, and outside vendors to onboard new technologies, facilitate tech transfer, and ensure efficient operations. Communication, organization, and solid controls experience will be critical in success at this role.The ideal candidate will be able to immediately step in and provide operational support to controls and automation activities throughout the facility. Primary Responsibilities: Provide process support for clinical manufacturing and R&D processes while also facilitating tech transfer between the two areas.Work with process development teams on technical development and the testing of new technologies, trialing new automation strategies, and implementing them in the development areasOn future capital projects, work to design, install, and qualify new equipment to support GMP clinical production. Execute and develop appropriate system validation, change control, and testing documentation in partnership with project CQV and IT teams.Establish GxP systems in the facility: Change Management, Maintenance protocols, Calibration procedures, Training, and SOPs for all GxP automation systems.Integration of control systems with MES, Quality, and Batch Reporting applications.Understand and adhere to CFR, GMP, and data integrity regulations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Develop and maintain SDLC documentation.Actively work in a multi-discipline project team environment and must be able to influence matrixed teams. Education Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in an engineering, science, or computer discipline or equivalent practical experience of at least 7 years of experience in automation controls Required Experience and Skills: Effective oral / written communication skills.Experience with DeltaV process control systems. Relevant training and experience with Implementation and Batch.At least 5 years of experience in an Automation or Engineering function for Biologics, Food, Medical Devices, or Pharmaceutical industries.Proven experience with development and implementation of industrial controls such as SCADA (Wonderware, iFix), PLC applications (Siemens, Allen Bradley), DCS (Delta V), Historian (PI).Working experience with GAMP, S88 and other industry standards.
