We are seeking a full:time Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Research Scientist who will support the Cyber Resilience and Intelligence Division (CRID) in the National Security Sciences Directorate at ORNL. CRID provides new methods, tools, and strategies to detect and mitigate adversarial attacks on critical infrastructure and protections and informs national agencies about the nature, extent, and severity of adversarial actions with the goal of improving the US cyber and physical security posture. Major Duties/Responsibilities: :Provide technical insights for program and project developments.:Lead teams to define and implement sponsor requirements.:Interact with sponsors and funding agencies from project conception, proposal writing, and project execution.:Mentor early careerstaff through both formal project, task, and technical leadership.:Perform research and development at levels ranging from proof:of:concept development to software / system architecture.:All team members deliver ORNL's mission by aligning behaviors, priorities, and interactions with our core values of Impact, Integrity, Teamwork, Safety, and Service. Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility by fostering a respectful workplace : in how we treat one another, work together, and measure success. Basic Qualifications: :A Ph.D. in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field and 6 years' experience in government service or private industry. A combination of education and relevant experience may also be considered. Preferred Qualifications: :Experience leading teams and performing research in artificial intelligence / machine learning, specifically for cybersecurity, signal processing, biometrics, digital forensics, and/or computer vision for national security applications.:Proven track record managing and executing funding at both relatively low levels (:1 full time equivalent) to larger efforts (10+ full time equivalence).:Excellent written and oral communication skills.:Motivated self:starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.:Ability to function well in a fast:paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within given timeframesand adapt to ever changing needs.
