The Chair is expected to advance excellence in research to optimize care for people undergoing ambulatory anesthesia. The successful candidate will be an internationally renowned clinician researcher conducting high quality innovative research in anesthesia, pain medicine or related disciplines. The mandate of this chair is to lead a world-class program of research and academic excellence that advances ambulatory anesthesia at Women’s College Hospital and the University of Toronto Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. The incumbent will foster and support research, education/training and scientific progress following high ethical and professional standards in ambulatory anesthesia at Women’s, an institution that prioritizes equity deserving communities. Candidates will have a reputation of clinical expertise in anesthesia and a track record of peer-reviewed funding and international scientific impact. The Chair holder must hold an MD, MBBS or equivalent thereto, be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada or equivalent, be eligible to hold a medical license in Ontario and to be appointed a staff anesthesiologist at Women’s College Hospital. The successful applicant must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant (near promotion), Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. .
