Responsibilities: The Principal Business Development Engineer role for Electrical & Electronics (E&E) is a multi-faceted customer / market facing position responsible for driving new business growth through an entrepreneurial mindset and rigorous SFDC (Salesforce) Opportunity pipeline process. Understands and drives value selling of product solutions for the company and its customers. This is a remote role, with travel up to 50% A Principal Business Development Engineer is responsible to: Develop, drive, and deliver growth plans for the E&E Business Unit in targeted segments, customers and with value chain partners in North America. Deliver on growth objectives by building pipeline through targeting, prospecting and closing on new growth opportunities at existing and new customers. Deliver value by discovering external stakeholder pains, solving problems and commercializing product solutions to maximize value for Celanese and its customers. Develop strong relationships with influencers and decision makers at key accounts (brand owners, OEM and Tier Molders) along the entire value chain. Possess in-depth industry/segment knowledge to anticipate trends and changes and bring internally “Voice of the Customer” and new product/technology development opportunities. Collaborate with global commercial teams (Sales, Marketing, and Technical Service) to ensure project/pipeline delivery; Support/participate in growth teams and share experience/knowledge internally. Understand the dynamics and trends of the key industry segments, brands & retailer’s business and provide inputs for business strategy. Drive specification wins and support Sales Team to grow and maintain annual budgets. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, or Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Plastics or Equivalent) required. Advanced degrees preferred. 10+ years of commercial experience in business and/or application development at a chemical or plastic company preferred. Strong understanding of the material selection process working with OEM’s and processors. Self-starter, entrepreneurial mindset, strong personal presence, and interpersonal skills. Strong project management skills to own and deliver on opportunities (from prospecting to close) is a plus. Technical background for materials selection, part design and applications.
