SUMMARY: The Production Manager plays a crucial role in planning, organizing, and optimizing the manufacturing process to ensure efficient production, high-quality products, and a safe working environment. The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the production process within a manufacturing facility. Their primary role is to plan, coordinate, and control the manufacturing operations to ensure that products are produced efficiently, on time, and according to quality standards. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Production Supervision: Oversee the daily operations on the production floor, monitoring the activities of workers and ensuring that production processes are running smoothly. Provide guidance, resolve issues, and make decisions to maintain productivity and efficiency. Production Planning: Ensure creation of production schedules, considering factors such as resource availability, production capacity, and customer demand. Determine the optimal sequence of operations and allocate resources accordingly. Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure that products meet the required standards. This involves inspecting production output, analyzing quality data, addressing non-conformances, and implementing corrective actions when necessary. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction. This may involve implementing lean manufacturing principles, optimizing production workflows, and utilizing new technologies or methodologies to enhance efficiency and productivity, and support the introduction of new equipment. Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Track production metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the efficiency, productivity, and quality of the manufacturing process. Analyze data, generate reports, make data-driven decisions to improve performance, and address any variances from standards. Provide regular updates to management on production status, issues, and improvement initiatives. Collaboration: Collaborate with other plant leadership and departments such as engineering, procurement, customer service, and logistics to coordinate production activities, address technical issues, standardize processes, and optimize supply chain processes. Team Management: Organize departmental management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations. Lead and manage production team. Establishes and implements team/individual objectives, including the measurement and documentation of the progress of each employee toward the established goals. Foster a positive work environment, promote teamwork, and encourage continuous skill development. Implement and maintain a culture of safety, quality, accountability, collaboration, high performance, and that embraces the values of honesty, trust, respect, and integrity. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure that production processes comply with health and safety regulations. Promote a safe working environment, conduct risk assessments, and implement measures to minimize workplace hazards and accidents. Additional facility tasks include but not limited to: Supplier negotiations. Lease negotiation and administration support. Interaction and facilitation support regarding building maintenance and services. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATION: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education And/Or Experience : Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business (or equivalent professional experience) with 3 to 5 years of manufacturing leadership experience. Experience in the flexographic printing industry is a strong plus. Other Skills And Abilities: Proven manufacturing business and operational acumen. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Proven track record of implementing lean manufacturing and delivering improved cost, lead time, and quality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with ERP system utilization. Project Management Certification preferred. Experience supporting a Quality Management System business strategy and ISO Certification preferred. CRITICAL COMPETENCIES: Action-oriented, self-starter who can delegate and be hands-on as situations deem appropriate. Ability to organize and manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities. Demonstrated ability to create a business case to justify and fulfill improvements and or production related strategies. Excellent organizational and innovative problem-solving skills. Strong oral, written and presentation skills at all levels of an organization. Including fluency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language. Time Away: We observe 10 company-paid holidays per year and up to ten (10) days of accrued vacation time in the first year. Eleven (11) days at year two (2). Twelve (12) days at year three (3). Thirteen (13) days at year four (4) and fifteen (15) days at year five (5). We also offer six (6) accrued personal days for you to use for things like weddings, moving, mental health, religious holiday, a sick child, or for anything that is truly personal. Saving for the Future: plan for your short-term and long-term goals with our 401(k)-retirement savings plan with employer match with no vesting schedule. You are fully vested on the first of the month following 30 days of employment. SATO will match 100%/dollar-for-dollar of your 401(k)-deferral amount of the first 3% of your pay and an additional match of 50%/$.50 on the next 2% of your pay. For example, if you defer 5% of your pay into the 401(k) Plan, SATO will make a 4% matching contribution.
