It examines historic and literary representations, ethnographic narratives, legal and human rights discourses, the politics of veiling, and Islamic feminism. This course situates Muslim women as complex, multidimensional actors engaged in knowledge production and political and feminist struggles, as opposed to the static, victim-centered, Orientalist images that have regained currency in the representation of Muslim women in the post 9/11 era. Estimated Course Enrollment : 45 Estimated TA Support : N/A Class Schedule : Thursday 11-1 Sessional Dates of Appointment : September 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023 Salary : H Y Sessional Lecturer I $9,457.90 $18,915.79 (including 4% vacation) Sessional Lecturer I - Long Term $9,930.79 $19,861.58 (including 6% vacation) Sessional Lecturer II $10,121.77 $20,243.53 (including 6% vacation) Sessional Lecturer II - Long Term $10,326.62 $20,653.23 (including 6% vacation) Sessional Lecturer III $10,362.76 $20,725.52 (including 6% vacation) Please note that should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Qualifications : Applicants will have a Masters or Ph. D. in Gender, Feminist and/or interactionuality Studies or a closely related discipline. A Ph. D. degree in Gender, Feminist or interactionuality Studies is preferred. Mastery/competency in the subject area, as related to the course description, is required. Previous experience teaching a similar course is desirable.
