REQUIREMENTS Must be able to fulfill the Essential job duties the Health Officer Position. Current Licensed as an EMT-B or higher level of EMT certification. Minimum age requirement is 21. Ability to work Monday-Friday , and occasional evenings Ability to work independently. Maintains certification in Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED. JOB DUTIES Oversees all medical events Is responsible for all medical needs of campers Has the ultimate authority for deciding whether a child is to be sent home, to a doctor, or to the hospital for medical reasons. Collect and administer medications daily to campers. Organize paperwork, and file reports regarding incidents during her shift. Maintains patient privacy with medical conditions and documents Monitor use of medical supplies and restock when necessary. Communicate with all representatives Maintain a clean personal appearance and wear the designated uniform required by the property Know the facility emergency procedures and assist in emergency drills. Assist with the Customer Service desk as needed with checking participants in and out, accepting and dispensing packages; operating the telephone. Must be able to get trained to drive camp golf cart/gator The EMT should always be available in case needed for a medical event or injury - systems (walkie-talkie, PA system, golf carts, etc.) should be employed whenever possible to allow for the nurse to best access campers. The nurse should have a walkie-talkie always set to a designated Channel so that they can be contacted at any time. The EMT is an integral part of the camp staff. He/ she/ they/ them should be included in camp activities. This is a great way for the EMT to get involved with camp programs and to be interacting with campers, counselor, and staff. GENERAL DESCRIPTION The mission of The Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center is to serve all youth of Orange County by providing quality outdoor educational programs that instill in them an appreciation of the outdoors and the environment, teach effective teamwork, instruct about the cultural history of Orange County and provide access to the natural resources of the surrounding areas. This 210-acre outdoor education center owned and operated by the Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America, is located in Orange, California and accessible through Irvine Regional Park. The Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center (IROEC) features half-day through five-day overnight academic and recreational programming. Our hands-on approach to outdoor education allows participants to explore the outdoors and science while developing creativity, leadership skills and a respect for the environment.
