The Job at a Glance The Loan Servicing Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Loan Servicing Department, comprised of residential real estate, consumer, commercial real estate, and business loans. This individual will be the internal and external champion for the credit union's service culture with members and partners as it relates to our loan servicing portfolios. The incumbent will lead the continued enhancement of service delivery and operational process improvements. The Loan Servicing Manager will closely follow servicing industry trends, regulations and evolving compliance needs and adapts them for application within the mortgage loan servicing loan operations; which includes loan boarding, payments, escrow, investor reporting and participations/acquisitions. Collaborates with senior management in the development of strategic plans to achieve the credit union's overall objectives. A Typical Day Responsible for the overall management of the Loan Servicing Department for all activities on residential real estate, consumer, commercial real estate, and business loans from loan inception to closing. Department responsibilities include loan payment posting, execution of tax and insurance escrows, post-closing activities, loan corrections, Private Mortgage Insurance processing, loan payoff and lien satisfaction processing, ad-hoc reporting for loan portfolios and monthly reconciliation of department G/L's. Ensure compliance with Investor guidelines, such as Fannie Mae and Federal Home Loan Bank. Responsible for timely and accurate accounting and reporting to all Investors. Overseas the boarding and servicing of commercial real estate loans (CRE). Ensures compliance with participation agreements on CRE sold to participants, that monthly reporting to participants is completed timely, and monitors performance of CRE participations purchased. Create efficiencies and coordinate with other departments to ensure optimal performance and smooth transition from origination to post-funding servicing. Provide quality assurance over loan documentation, collateral perfection, UCC filings, and insurance tracking. Focus on team and self-development, leadership and management through training and ongoing communications including one-on-ones, department meetings and observations designed to support individual and team success. Manage the overall member experience, focusing on service and retention of members within our mortgage portfolios. Interview, hire, train, and continuously develop loan servicing staff, ensuring the competencies to maintain quality data, security, and compliant policies, procedures, and practices. Ensure the team possesses a high level of individual accountability for delivering results within attainable deadlines and industry and regulatory standards. Develop and implement approved projects related to loan servicing: participation on project teams for cross functional and strategic projects. Provide insights from reporting to increase operational performance, lower operational risk and increase profitability. Complete all management/board reports as assigned. Participates in budgeting processes and provides appropriate analysis and accountability of the department. Become a subject matter expert on the loan servicing platform including a thorough understanding of the types of loans serviced and client dependencies on data provided by the platform. Help identify current technical gaps and process enhancements required to enable integration of additional loan types and to maximize automation. Remains cognizant of and adheres to Credit Union 1 policies and procedures, industry norms and banking regulations. Coordinate accounting settlement of member payments, general ledger settlement, insurance tracking and monthly regulatory reporting Year-end related activities including member-related and IRS-related activities. Implement metrics for tracking operational efficiency improvement. What We Look For Bachelor's degree in business or related field. Minimum of 7 years loan servicing or related work experience. Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and successfully manage a diverse group of professionals. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with ability to effectively communicate to senior leaders, peers, supporting staff and third-party partners. An ability to thrive in a demanding environment where priorities can change daily, employees wear many hats, and is detailed-oriented. Ready to think "outside the box" and prioritize tasks and decisions in a timely manner. Ability to operate independently and exercise significant latitude for independent judgement, discretion, and action. Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
