Closing Date: January 17, 2024 Reporting to the Superintendent Engineering, Mining Engineering in Sparwood, the Senior Mine Engineer is responsible for the development of operational long range mine plans and projects that sustain the life of our operations while mitigating risks. This role has a key focus to optimize long range designs through the economic, environmental, cultural and social lenses. Primary activities include pit optimization, detailed mine design and scheduling, and options analysis. This role will be primarily office-based but with field requirements as necessary. To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who can build relationships in a team. This person is self-motivated, adaptable, and can prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Outstanding decision-making, creativity, and the ability to find solutions are vital to success. Join us in the breathtaking Elk Valley of British Columbia. Responsibilities: Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures Progress mine planning best practices to include sustainability, stakeholder/Indigenous integration, technology evaluation, and closure aspects Complete mine plan optimization studies, long-range plans scenario analysis and various project studies Build and maintain strategic long-range planning models including economic evaluation and options analysis Assist in communicating mine plan guidance to inform operational plans Contribute to a technical environment and culture that is inclusive, rewarding, collaborative and integrated with technical, sustainability and operating functions.
